The Story of Dipstone
It all began a cold day in January 2002. Christian and Robert got together with their guitars and a pack of beers to jam. A few hours later the guitar chords and melodies that would become the song 'Maybe' was written. The idea at this moment was just to sample some guitar riffs and harmonies on the computer and mix them with beats and synths.
During the spring of 2002 the project slowly grew from a hobby project to something they both felt could really be taken to a serious level. The songs 'Parts of Me' and 'Stone' was put together and the search for a vocalist began. After a couple of auditions with vocalists during the spring and summer of 2002 Malin called ... the tree felt like it was meant to be... and an inspiring and creative relationship formed, which still lives and grows.
The trio spent the autumn writing new songs and arranging vocals on the existing songs. By the end of the year Dipstone had there first live performance in Stockholm.
After several gigs with a bunch of different people on drums and bass, the longing to become a full band grew stronger. Dipstone was lucky to find two guys that shared the same dream and vision. These two guys were Olle Linderdahl on drums, who earlier had played in bands with both Robert and Christian, and Ola Ekblom on bass.
They joined the band in may 2003 to complete what was the bands setup until the summer of -04, when Ola unfortunately had to leave the band. A difficult period for Dipstone begun... But what does not kill you makes you stronger, the wise man says.
In September 2004 the search for a new bassplayer ended when Anders Leffler stepped into the Rehearsal room in Solna. He played some groovy basslines, swept the floor with the other auditioning bassplayers and made the songs sound even better!
Now Dipstone are stronger and more hungry than ever before!
